Loki’s Loop is pleased to announce the release of our latest game – AlgoRobin (English | Dutch).
Lately, a lot of your friends have been diving into health and fitness trends they’ve come across on social media, especially your bestie – Robin. Wild sleep and workout schedules, trips to health treatments you didn’t even know existed. Now you are worried that Robin is about to follow some risky advice. You decide it’s time to start asking questions—where is Robin getting all these ideas, and why have these trends taken over Robin’s life?
AlgoRobin was created in response to the rapid growth of health and wellness influencers – and the real risks of following persuasive but unproven advice online. Media reports have documented numerous cases in which people suffered serious illness, permanent harm (including lasting changes to their appearance), and even death after adopting such guidance. Crucially, these stories are not about reckless or uninformed individuals, but about people who are intelligent and generally well-informed – like “Robin,” the protagonist of the game.
The goal of AlgoRobin is to let players experience how easily and incrementally someone can be drawn into believing and acting on what is promoted online. Through Robin’s journey, players discover how casual curiosity can turn into committed adherence, whether to a health fad or any other online movement.
AlgoRobin was created in partnership with the OCLC EMEA division, headquartered in the Netherlands. The codesign team consisted of Dutch librarians and OCLC staff.
We are releasing the game in Dutch and English. If you are interested in a localized language version of AlgoRobin, contact us at lokisloop@uw.edu
